Submission Guidelines

We encourage people ages 15-24 to submit videos on a variety of topics:

  • Your impressions, thoughts and reactions when traveling to another country or culture---maybe even a place in your own country that is different than what you experience!
  • Your impressions or thoughts about your own country or culture. Perhaps there is something for which your country is known world wide or is a particular international landmark; tell the world what it means to you while you share the experience or the landmark with everyone via a submitted video.
  • You in action!! Show the world how you complete ordinary everyday activities. While it may seem ordinary to you, for those in other places it could be a completely different way of doing things. These are the things that people don't always see when they travel to other places. Some examples might be:
    • How do you get to school?
    • Do you have chores or jobs that you have to do around your house?
    • How do you get the food you eat?
    • How do you celebrate holidays, festivals, or special days in your country? (What is the day celebrating?)
    • What is like at lunch time at your school?
    • What is the best part of your day?
    • What is the worst part of your day?
    • What do you like to do in your free time?

LENGTH: Because we want to make them user-friendly, we request that the videos are no more than five minutes in length.

AUDIENCE: The intention is for the videos to be used in Social Studies, English, Foreign Language or any other classes that might be able to benefit from these topics. However, the audience isn't limited to just schools. Those that are interested in learning about the world can benefit from your submissions whether they view them in a classroom setting or not.

CONTENT: We want to see you in action; think about how you might show something in an interesting way. No one wants to watch someone sitting in a room just talking. For example, if you were to submit a video on "How do you get the food you eat?" watching someone explaining going to the store is pretty boring. Take us with you! Go to the store; show us how the food is displayed. Maybe you don't go to the store, maybe you go to the butcher or vegetable market...even better! Take us with you. Let us hear the sounds, see the view, hear you speak in your native language, see how you buy the food, give us the real experience!! Show us what kinds of vegetables are for sale.maybe someone watching has never even seen that food before.

LANGUAGE: Videos don't always have to be in English. Foreign language classes can practice their listening skills by using the video of you while you speak in your native language. Remember to speak clearly and slowly, we are just learning your language!
